Fairy Tale Forest Summer Camp 2012
An immersion in the magic and wonder of the world of Fairy Tales. At Fairy Tale Forest we spend the summer days in adventures and arts: hearing stories, playing games, dancing, painting, making crafts, putting on plays, listening to music and being in Nature. Taught by award-winning artist and teacher Laura Melling, with renowned Harpist Margot Krimmel, this unique camp experience will be offered at two new locations for this our third season: At the Star House in Sunshine Canyon, only 4 miles from central Boulder, and at Magnolia Healing Arts, off of Magnolia Road, only a few miles from Nederland or 15 miles from Boulder. Adult Classes, Thursday evenings
Isadora Duncan taught a philosophy and technique of movement that works on many levels to refresh, center, ground, strengthen, en-soul, and inspire the participant and the viewer. This style of movement is both weighted and free-flowing, developing the body in harmony with the whole person, free of stress, and in a relaxed and vital state, receptive to creative idea and impulse. Itself drawn from ancient sources, Duncan’s methods hold that graceful, poetic and both personally and universally meaningful movement arise naturally from a person who is connected to their body, inspired and in a state of repose.
Current class theme: Duncan Dance as Spiritual Discipline. Each class involves: Contemplation of a poetic/spiritual theme; Interior active-imagination practice; Alexander Lowen’s Bioenergetic stress-release work, Strengthening floor exercises, Slow movement exercises; Barre exercises and floor-crossing exercises; Group and individual improvisation; Explorations in choreography. No prior dance experience required. An optional performance will conclude the series.
